Voter Registration and General Information:

Applying for permanent registration is the first step toward voting in a primary or general election. Anyone who has moved to or within Nassau County during the past year - or even changed to another apartment in the same building - must re-register. Voters who wish to change their party affiliations must also register anew.
You must be:

TO VOTE YOU MUST BE:

- A United States Citizen
-18 years old by election day
-A resident of your county, city, town or village for at least 30 days preceding Election Day
-Registered to Vote

Applications for registration must be postmarked 25 days prior to a primary or general election  and received within 5 days. Hand-delivered applications must be received 25 days before the  election at the Nassau County Board of Elections.

Only enrolled party members can vote in that party's primary election

You may register to vote when applying for, or renewing, your driver's license at the Motor Vehicle Bureau or when applying for assistance at the Department of Social Services.

Your registration also allows you to vote in school, library, village and special district elections.

LWVUS Online Voter Registration Tool
LWVUS has an online voter registration tool where people can go to fill out, print and sign a registration form, then mail it to the address given.
